We need effective and reliable volunteers to provide one-to-one reading support to children and young people who are struggling with their reading and/or confidence. Our Reading Mentors mainly work in schools in South and West Yorkshire. Being a Reading Mentor is a rewarding and fun voluntary experience.
Reading Matters standard model is for a volunteer Reading Mentor to partner two pupils per term and to commit to a minimum of three ten-week terms (one academic year). They undertake two one-hour sessions per week in school, therefore half an hour with each pupil reading partner twice a week.
