The 4th Reading Matters’ Fundraising Gala Dinner was held at The Midland Hotel in Bradford on the 14th of May 2016. With the help of Barclays Bank, who match-funded the event, we raised a fantastic £17,460 to support more children and young people who struggle with reading. Ex International rugby player, Robbie Hunter-Paul was the speaker at the event and BBC Radio Leeds’ Liz Green acted as the compere for the evening. The dinner was attended by over 150 guests, including the Lord Mayor of Bradford, who were entertained by magician Luke Lenihan and local band Issimo who played live. Many thanks to everyone involved for making the night such a success.
Last year’s event was held on the 25th of April 2015 at The Midland Hotel in Bradford. The delightful Gervase Phinn was our guest speaker and Harry Gration also said a few words and compered the live auction. Including match-funding from Barclays Bank, the total raised was a fantastic £17,755, which will enable us to help many more children and young people who struggle with reading. A big thank you to everyone that supported the event.
Yorkshire Life covered the event and their photographs can be found here.
